Gisborne Foods Pty Ltd trading as Kaffeine Bar is a vibrant and well-established café located in the heart of Gisborne. Known for its quality food, specialty coffee, and warm customer service, Kaffeine Bar has become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. We are currently seeking qualified and experienced Chefs to join our dynamic kitchen team on a full-time basis.
We are looking for passionate and motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment and are committed to maintaining high culinary and hospitality standards.
Your Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Prepare, cook, and present high-quality meals in accordance with café standards and menu requirements
• Assist in developing seasonal menus, specials, and function catering options
• Coordinate food preparation and service during busy periods while ensuring consistency in quality and presentation
• Cater for customers with special dietary requirements and food allergies
• Monitor portion control, food quality, and kitchen presentation standards
• Supervise kitchen operations and support junior kitchen staff during service
• Ensure food is prepared and stored in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies and kitchen inventory management
• Inspect ingredients and kitchen equipment to ensure quality and operational efficiency
• Assist with rostering, staff training, and maintaining a positive team culture
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Maintain workplace health and safety standards at all times
• Contribute ideas to improve kitchen efficiency, menu offerings, and customer satisfaction
Skills and Experience Required:
• AQF Certificate IV, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality
• Minimum one year of experience working as a Chef in a busy café or restaurant environment
• Strong understanding of food safety practices and kitchen operations
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with menu planning, stock control, and kitchen coordination will be highly regarded
• Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
The position is full-time (minimum 38 hours per week) with an annual salary ranging between $75,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
