Sir Charles Cafe is seeking a skilled and motivated Chef/Cook to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food, thrives in a fast-paced café environment, and is committed to delivering high-quality dishes with consistency.

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000 per Annum + Superannuation.

Task & responsibilities

Responsibilities of a Chef :

• Plan menus and contribute to menu development and seasonal updates. 
• Oversee kitchen operations and coordinate workflow during service. 
• Supervise and guide kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchenhands. 
• Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control. 
• Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage supplier relationships. 
• Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS regulations. 
• Manage kitchen costs, minimise waste, and control food expenses. 

Responsibilities of a Cook :

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and instructions. 
• Assist with food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and portioning. 
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations. 
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times. 
• Assist with stock rotation and basic inventory tasks. 
• Ensure consistency in taste and presentation of dishes.

Qualification & experience

• Diploma in Hospitality Management (or equivalent qualification). 
• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in a commercial kitchen. 
• Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations. 
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health standards. 
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
