Chef – Full Time

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Palm Beach Surf Club. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality food while supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of a busy kitchen in a high-volume hospitality environment.

Task & responsibilities

• Planning menus in consultation with the Executive Chef and management, including estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies
• Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in accordance with menu guidelines, recipes, and presentation standards whilst maintaining standard
• Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Discussing food preparation issues with the Executive Chef, Managers, kitchen, and waiting staff
• Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising kitchen staff on food preparation procedures
• Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of all kitchen and food storage areas
• Explaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene regulations, and safe work practices
• Following correct food handling procedures and maintaining compliance with food safety standards
• Assisting in selecting, training, and supervising kitchen staff as required
• Managing food preservation techniques, including freezing and storage, to minimise waste

Qualification & experience

• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate IV or higher) 
• Minimum 1–2 years of full-time relevant work experience as a Chef
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and safe work practices
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume hospitality environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow directions and contribute to kitchen operations
