About the role
The Dental Retreat is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team in Macleod, VIC. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our dental professionals. As a Dental Assistant, you will be at the heart of our practice, ensuring that every patient receives outstanding treatment in a welcoming and efficient environment. Your contribution will directly impact patient satisfaction and the smooth operation of our clinic.
This position is available to permanent residents only.
This position is open to Australian citizens and permanent residents.
What you'll be doing
Assisting dentists during clinical procedures by passing instruments, managing suction and ensuring proper visibility of the treatment area
Preparing and sterilising instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols
Welcoming patients, managing patient records and maintaining accurate documentation
Providing chairside support to ensure patient comfort and safety during treatments
Scheduling appointments and managing the dental calendar to optimise clinic efficiency
Assisting with temporary restorations, impressions and other chairside duties as required
Maintaining a clean, organised and professional treatment environment
Supporting infection control and sterilisation procedures to meet health and safety standards
Communicating with patients to explain procedures and address their concerns in a professional manner
What we're looking for
Candidates can be with or without certificate 3 in Dental Assisting, those interested to do a traineeship in certificate 3 Dental Assisting will also be considered.
Current knowledge of dental practice management software and basic computer skills are preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for patient care
To start ASAP with view to stay permanently ongoing. Our working hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm and Saturdays 9am to 1pm
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary dental team
Understanding of infection control protocols and commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene
Attention to detail and accuracy when handling patient records and clinical documentation
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the practice
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain it)
Previous experience in a dental practice is highly desirable
