Medical Receptionist – Specialist Cardiology Practice

Casual or Part-Time Opportunity

A busy and highly respected cardiology practice is seeking a friendly, organised, and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our supportive team on a casual or part-time basis.

Candidates must have previous medical reception experience to be considered for this position.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a patient-focused environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy specialist medical practice.

About the Role

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional experience. You will be responsible for a variety of reception and administrative duties while working closely with our cardiologists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals.

This position requires Australian citizenship and eligible candidates must have the right to work in Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients and managing check-ins and check-outs

  • Answering telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries via phone and email

  • Scheduling appointments and managing specialist consulting diaries

  • Preparing patient clinic files and maintaining accurate medical records

  • Processing payments and Medicare claims

  • Prompt sending of correspondence and test results to referring practitioners

  • Liaising with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

  • Providing general administrative support to the practice

  • Assisting clinical staff with administrative tasks, including typing and uploading correspondence

  • Scanning, filing, and processing referrals

About You

We are looking for a professional and motivated individual who possesses:

  • A friendly, professional, and approachable manner

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Confidence using medical software, particularly Genie (highly regarded)

  • Reliability, initiative, and a strong work ethic

  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Essential / Desirable Experience
  • Experience using Genie medical software is highly Essential

  • Previous experience in a specialist medical practice or hospital environment is highly regarded

  • Experience within a cardiology specialist practice is advantageous but not essential

  • The ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within a clinical administration role
