About the Company

Empax Centre is one of Australia’s few clinics authorised under TGA’s regulatory pathways to deliver psychiatrist-led Medication Assisted Therapy care programs. These programs are delivered within a strict clinical governance framework, combining regulated medicine use with extensive psychotherapeutic support for clients with challenging post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and treatment-resistant depression (TRD).

Named “Outstanding Clinic” at the 2025 Patients Australia Awards, Empax is committed to safe, ethical, evidence-guided and trauma-informed care. We are continuously learning with our patients to refine and innovate care models.

The Role

We’re currently expanding our services in Penrith, and are seeking experienced and compassionate trauma-informed Mental Health Occupational Therapists to join our team. In this unique role, you’ll support clients across all phases of their therapeutic journey:

  • Preparations: build trust and psychological readiness before treatment

  • Dosing sessions: guide and support clients during their therapy sessions

  • Integrations: support clients to reflect on their experience and apply insights in daily life

Therapists at Empax Centre work in dyads to foster deep peer support, shared learning and mutual trust. You’ll work in close collaboration with psychiatrists and other health professionals within a multidisciplinary model, providing a rare opportunity to learn and contribute as part of a team at the forefront of innovative mental health care.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive in-house training and onboarding in medicine-assisted therapies

  • A supportive, purpose-driven team and structured clinical environment

  • Opportunities for reflective practice, peer review and professional growth

  • The unique experience of working in a therapy dyad model

  • A chance to help shape the future of mental health care in Australia

What We're Looking For

Grounded, self-aware, and deeply committed clinicians ideally with:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a mental health practitioner

  • Qualification in Occupational Therapy

  • Current registration with AHPRA

  • Solid foundation in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, particularly those that are trauma-focused, somatic, or ACT-informed

  • An expectation of continuity and reliability to support clients throughout their full therapeutic journey

  • A warm, empathetic presence and the ability to hold space with care and clarity

  • Cultural humility and experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

  • High professional and ethical standards, including strong boundaries and commitment to confidentiality

Pay

  • Contractor or Employment options available with competitive pay rates based on qualifications and experience

Commitment

The following work arrangements are available:

  • 3.5 days/week, 2 of which are dosing days

  • 1.5 days/week, 1 of which is a dosing day

  • 1.5 days/fortnight, 1 of which is a dosing day

  • Other: If you cannot commit to any of the above, please let us know what you could commit to.

Please note, as there are three integration sessions between each dosing session, these will occur across more than one day. For example, if you opt for 1.5 days per week, this would look like one full day plus 3-5 hours split across 2 additional days. Dosing days, the next day integration and one preparation session must be conducted in person. All other sessions may be conducted via telehealth.

Training

Successful applicants will be required to complete our in-house training and onboarding program, The Empax Way. The next identified in person training dates are 21st, 22nd and 23rd of August 2026 in Perth, with approximately 4-5 hours of online content required to be viewed prior. If you can’t make these dates and would still like to be considered for the role, you are welcome to proceed with the application anyway and we will be in touch when future training dates are released.

How to Apply

  1. Complete the Empax Centre Clinician Expression of Interest (https://forms.gle/UZuUqCzvTnWEFrgm6), which includes questions about your experience and training.

  2. Please submit your Resume and a Cover letter outlining your qualifications and interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy to *******@empaxcentre.com.
