About the role
Norella Disability Support Services is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and support their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
This is a mobile community-based role, requiring travel to clients’ homes and community settings across Sydney, including Ryde, Merrylands, Blacktown, Burwood, Chatswood, and surrounding suburbs, with allocations depending on client locations and needs. You will work flexibly within our disability support services, providing professional therapeutic interventions tailored to each client's unique goals. This role offers flexibility while contributing to our mission of delivering high-quality community-based disability support.
Norella Disability Support Services is currently progressing through the NDIS registration and audit process as part of our commitment to meeting full quality and safeguarding standards. We are building our team in preparation to deliver compliant, high-quality services across Sydney.
Key responsibilitiesConduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify clients' functional abilities, limitations, and rehabilitation potential
Develop and implement individualised treatment plans focused on increasing independence in daily living activities
Provide direct occupational therapy interventions including rehabilitation, cognitive support, and functional skills training
Deliver services through home visits and community-based sessions across Sydney locations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including support workers and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches as required
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and client records
Provide education and guidance to clients, families, and carers on adaptive strategies and equipment use
Recommend assistive technology and environmental modifications to support independence
Participate in team meetings and case discussions
Maintain professional standards and ongoing best practice in occupational therapy
Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in rehabilitation settings
Strong understanding of assessment and intervention approaches in disability support
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in electronic clinical documentation
Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) and relevant compliance checks
Commitment to person-centred, goal-focused care
Willingness to work in a mobile role across Sydney suburbs
