Active Allied Health Australia is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist (ANZSCO 252411) to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based occupational therapy interventions for clients across a variety of age groups and care settings.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to improve functional capacity, enhance independence, and support participation in daily living activities. This role requires strong clinical reasoning skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centred care.

Task & responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive occupational therapy assessments of clients' physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and functional abilities.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing individualised treatment plans and intervention programs.
  • Assessing clients' needs relating to self-care, mobility, home living, work, education, and community participation.
  • Prescribing and recommending assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
  • Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve functional independence and quality of life.
  • Evaluating home, workplace, school, and community environments and recommending modifications where appropriate.
  • Monitoring client progress and adjusting treatment plans to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Providing education, support, and training to clients, families, carers, and support workers.
  • Preparing accurate clinical documentation, assessment reports, treatment records, and progress notes.
  • Collaborating with medical practitioners, allied health professionals, support coordinators, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining professional standards, ethical practice, and compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary case conferences and professional development activities.

Qualification & experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Qualification assessed as comparable to Australian standards for Occupational Therapists.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia (desirable).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering occupational therapy interventions.
  • Experience working with diverse client groups across community, disability, aged care, rehabilitation, or healthcare settings is highly regarded.

Additional Requirements

  • Current Australian driver's licence or the ability to obtain one.
  • National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
