The Finance Business Partner acts as a senior finance adviser and strategic business partner, working collaboratively with Practice Managers and Regional Managers across WA, SA, VIC, and NZ to provide commercial insight and financial expertise that drive business performance. The role reviews and supports business cases, investment proposals, and growth initiatives through detailed financial analysis and modelling, and evaluates capital investments while tracking the financial outcomes of key operational projects. The role also fosters collaboration between finance and operational teams while overseeing payroll and accounts functions, ensuring financial insights are translated into practical actions that support growth, profitability, and operational excellence.

Task & responsibilities

Financial Governance, Compliant & Operations Oversight

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve budgetary frameworks, financial policies, and planning processes in consultation with operational and finance leadership.
  • Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant legislation, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct the preparation of statutory financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and supporting analyses.
  • Coordinate and oversee the internal and external payroll and accounts team, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with payroll legislation, accurate accounts payable and receivable processing, and ensure service level expectations are met.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks that protect organisational assets and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Oversee the integrity and effectiveness of financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
  • Monitor and report on the financial health of locations across WA, SA, VIC, and NZ, identifying performance outliers and improvement opportunities.

Strategic Business Partnering & Commercial Advisory

  • Partner with operational leaders (General Managers, Regional Managers) across the WA, SA, VIC, and NZ network to provide commercial guidance and financial expertise that drives business outcomes.
  • Evaluate and support business cases, investment proposals, and growth initiatives with robust financial analysis and commercial modeling tailored to practice expansion and development.
  • Assess capital investment proposals and monitor the financial performance of operational projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and advise on pricing strategies, service line profitability, and revenue optimisation opportunities.
  • Challenge assumptions and provide constructive commercial perspective to enhance decision quality across the practice network.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, and other support functions.

Performance Analytics, Reporting & Forecasting

  • Design, develop, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with strategic objectives and drive operational improvements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and performance reviews, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Deliver actionable insights through regular business reviews, highlighting performance drivers and recommending corrective actions.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, business-focused narratives that enable non-finance stakeholders to make informed decisions.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with operational leaders, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and realistic performance targets.
  • Develop long-range financial forecasts and profit projections that inform strategic planning and resource allocation.

Qualification & experience

  • CA or CPA qualification, with a strong finance or accounting background and at least 1 year of full-time demonstratable experience in a similar role within a large organisation.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector would be preferred.
