Job Description

The Policy Lead is responsible for driving delivery of the affiliate policy strategy, with the objective of shaping a favourable policy and environment. In this role, you will develop meaningful relationships with Medicines Australia and other relevant external stakeholders and maintain strong networks across affiliate functions, above-country teams, and senior leadership, translating complex policy landscapes into actionable strategic insights that support AbbVie's broader business and reimbursement objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the policy project team to ensure a sustainable model of monitoring, scanning and prioritising issues.
  • Co-ordinate and drive development of policy positions and lead proactive projects and strategic initiatives to further AbbVie’s policy priorities.
  • Lead and co-ordinate Government and other consultation responses on priority policy issues.
  • Engage in relevant market access and pipeline-related activities to support reimbursement strategy and submissions while contributing insights relating to broader policy issues.
  • Support the delivery of advocacy projects in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and cross functional teams aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of current and emerging policy trends through engagement with external stakeholders and support translation into strategic insights.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of policy-related briefings for internal stakeholders including AMT, affiliate functions, and above-country as required.
  • Build and maintain effective internal networks to ensure alignment of AbbVie policy positions and drive execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in Medicines Australia and multi-company task force initiatives where relevant.
  • Report any adverse event within 24 hours as per Allergan’s policies and procedures.
  • Proactively participate in AbbVie’s WHS programs, adhere to policies and always promote a safe work environment.
  • Adhere to AbbVie’s internal codes of conduct and compliance processes.
  • Other ad hoc duties such as administrative duties, as requested.
Qualifications
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Ability to identify policy issues and develop strategic policy positions.
  • Ability to transform evidence into policy and associated advocacy.
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong teamwork/collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in policy development and advocacy.
  • Ability to translate external policy settings into AbbVie strategy and business impact.
  • Knowledge of the Australian political system, health policy landscape and factors that influence policy direction and reform.
  • Working knowledge of public policy cycles, including public policy institutions and instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of the AU market access and pricing system and knowledge of international access systems.
