Hazelwood Farms are seeking an Mobile Plant Operator for their agricultural operations, located in Needilup WA, approx. 140 km Northeast of Albany, and approx. 350 km Southeast of Perth, WA. The candidate will live and work in the Great Southern region and play a crucial role in maximising farm production and profitability while ensuring Hazelwood Farm's machinery is well maintained and operations are carried out safely. The position is full time.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre-season servicing and maintenance of farm machinery, ensuring all equipment required for cropping operations is fully prepared prior to each operation.
  • Operate and ensure correct facilitation of a range of agricultural machinery, including but not limited to sprayers, air-seeders, spreaders, harvesters and loaders.
  • Undertake all major cropping operations including spraying, seeding, spreading, harvesting, and ongoing machinery maintenance.
  • Monitor and optimise plant and equipment performance by adjusting implement speed, height, depth, other settings, and application or collection rates as required.
  • Utilise and manage precision agriculture technology to ensure accurate and efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all farm policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements, maintaining a safe working environment for staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Work collaboratively with the team while also demonstrating the ability to operate autonomously when required, contributing to a positive and productive workplace culture.

Qualification & experience

About You

  • Possess genuine passion for farming and agricultural industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out basic servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding.
  • Sound knowledge of modern farming practices, crop management, and precision agriculture systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • AQF Certificate II in Agriculture (or equivalent) or a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience operating farm machinery and mobile plant equipment.
  • Experience with combine harvesters, preferably with Claas and/or Case machines, highly preferred.
  • Current driver's licence and Heavy Rigid (HR) licence.
  • ChemCert license, or be willing to obtain.
  • Well-developed communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality outcomes.
