Your key duties will include:
● Machinery Operation & Cultivation: Operating a John Deere or Krone forage harvester
during the Silage and Maize season. Operating a Volvo Wheel Loader on the Silage/Maize
pit. Operating modern Krone square balers during the hay and straw season.
● Contract Harvesting Operations: Operating specialized, high-capacity harvesting
machinery for large-scale seasonal contract work, specifically targeting grass silage, maize.
● Implement Customization: Maximizing operational efficiency and crop yields by precisely
adjusting the operating speed, clearance height, and depth of trailing or attached implements
to match distinct terrain, soil conditions, and crop varieties.
● Routine Maintenance & Servicing: Performing mandatory daily pre-start inspections,
routine equipment servicing, and preventative maintenance or minor mechanical repairs on
mobile plant to minimize seasonal downtime.
● Logistics & Reporting: Coordinating safe site logistics and machinery transport between
regional contract locations, operating support machinery (e.g., telehandlers or loading
shovels), and keeping accurate daily log tallies and work reports for management.
Skills and Experience Required
● Qualifications: A relevant agricultural qualification plus 3 years of relevant full-time
experience operating heavy agricultural mobile plant and tractors. A formal tertiary
qualification in Agriculture or Environmental Management will be highly regarded.
● Industry Experience: Proven background operating heavy machinery and harvesting
implements within high-pressure, large-scale seasonal contracting environments.
● Licensing: A valid, clean Driver's License is mandatory. Possessing or actively working
toward a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV/HR/HC) license is a distinct advantage for regional
transport logistics.
● Safety Awareness: Exceptional workplace health and safety (WHS) awareness with a
proven commitment to maintaining safe, compliant agricultural sites.
