Salary range: $77,000–$90,000 plus superannuation
About the Role:Farley AG is a Western Australian agricultural services business supporting farming operations across the
Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions. We work closely with local farmers to improve crop establishment, paddock
productivity, feed quality and overall production outcomes through practical field support, technical advice and specialist
agricultural equipment.
We are seeking a full-time Agricultural and Agritech Technician to provide technical support across a range of farming
operations. The role will involve assessing soil, crop and paddock conditions, supporting improved crop establishment
and production practices, using and maintaining specialist agricultural machinery and equipment, and providing practical
recommendations to improve crop yield, feed quality and paddock performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess soil, crop and paddock conditions to identify factors affecting crop establishment, crop health, yield and
produce quality
Conduct field-based technical assessments to support improved soil health, land use and production outcomes
Provide technical support and practical recommendations to farmers on crop establishment, paddock preparation
and yield improvement
Assist with implementing improved planting, fertilising, harvesting and paddock management practices
Operate specialist agricultural machinery and equipment used in crop production, paddock preparation and soil
improvement
Set up, test, maintain and monitor specialist agricultural equipment used in production systems
Monitor paddock conditions and crop performance and recommend improvements to crop yield, straw quality and
feed quality
Assist farmers with procedures to improve the yield and quality of hay, silage and straw
Analyse feed production outcomes to support improvements in livestock nutrition and production efficiency
Identify production risks including nutrient deficiencies, weeds, pests, disease risks and other environmental factors
affecting crop performance
Assist in implementing appropriate control measures and production adjustments to address identified issues
Collect, record and interpret soil, crop, paddock, machinery and production data for planning, quality control and
reporting purposes
Prepare and communicate technical recommendations relating to soil health, crop productivity, feed quality and
production efficiency
Provide practical training and technical support to farm staff on equipment use, crop establishment procedures and
paddock preparation
Maintain accurate records of field assessments, machinery use, crop performance, feed quality and recommended
improvements
Skills and Qualifications:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field, or at least three years of relevant
experience in lieu of formal qualifications
At least 2–3 years of experience in a relevant position
Practical experience in agricultural production, crop establishment, soil health, paddock preparation or related
farming operations
Experience using specialist agricultural machinery and equipment
Ability to assess soil, crop and paddock conditions and provide practical technical recommendations
Sound knowledge of grass, hay, silage and straw production
Strong communication and record-keeping skills
Ability to work independently across regional farming site
