Wombat Forest Organics are seeking a qualified and/or experienced Irrigationist to join their dynamic team!

Task & responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the Irrigationist will be to:

  • Operate our established irrigation programme.
  • Determine and manage a comprehensive schedule of irrigation for the farm.
  • Determine the correct pumping systems for irrigation and implement efficiently.
  • Work out the different hydraulic parameters for each irrigation system.
  • Determine and use different irrigation designs for optimal use.
  • Supervise staff & partake when installing irrigation systems.
  • Supervise and partake in irrigation maintenance.

Qualification & experience

To qualify for further consideration, you will need to demonstrate a genuine passion for the industry, a solid, relevant, working history and the below skills and attributes:

Skills & Experience:

We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • A relevant AQF Cert II or equivalent plus at least 1 year recent and relevant experience OR 2 years recent and relevant, fulltime, experience (must include exposure to and/or experience in the responsibilities shown above).
  • Experience in the responsibilities listed above.
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Sound mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to operate a tractor and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge of pumping systems for irrigation.
  • Good problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements and legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute as a valued member of the team.
  • Physically fit for the inherent requirements of the role.
  • Ability to work varied hours as required.
