The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive, reliable, and hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Officer to join our centralised support team. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this role is essential in supporting the day-to-day maintenance, presentation, and operational upkeep of hotel facilities across the group.

This is a highly dynamic position where no two days are the same. You will ensure all properties are safe, functional, and immaculate while supporting our venues with preventative maintenance, general repairs, and warehouse organisation.

Please note: This role provides maintenance coverage on a rotating roster, which includes being on call every second weekend.

About the Hurley Hotel Group

The Hurley Hotel Group includes the Arkaba, Barker, Kensi, Marion, Port Lincoln, Pretoria, Royal, Panorama, Torrens Arms Hotels & the Ivory Waterside at Tweed Heads in New South Wales. As one of the biggest family-owned and operated hotel groups in South Australia, we take pride in our longstanding reputation for innovation and success.

Core Responsibilities

  • Day-to-Day Maintenance: Undertake general preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and property presentation works to ensure facilities are kept to a high operational and visual standard.

  • Warehouse & Assets: Manage, clean, and organize the Shepley warehouse facility; assist with updating and maintaining the group asset registry using Fiix software.

  • Logistics & Support: Assist with the transport and delivery of equipment, materials, stock, and supplies between various hotel sites and the warehouse.

  • Property Checks: Perform routine compliance and presentation inspections across external grounds, loading docks, plant areas, and public spaces.

  • Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly alongside hotel venue managers, on-site maintenance hands, and external trades/contractors. Support the Hurley Hotel Group Gardener with his schedule and requirements.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a general maintenance, handyman, facilities, or property operations role—ideally within a commercial, accommodation, or fast-paced hospitality environment.

  • Practical Trade Skills: Strong capabilities in general repairs such as basic carpentry, painting, plastering, landscaping, and a solid understanding of minor plumbing or electrical coordination.

  • License & Transport: A valid, current driver’s license and confidence operating utility vehicles and towing trailers to move equipment between sites.

  • Work Ethic: A high degree of initiative, excellent time management skills to handle competing priorities, and the ability to work completely unsupervised.

  • System & Computer Skills: Sound general computer literacy, experience using Outlook and Microsoft suite. Previous experience with an asset management system eg Fiix is desirable.
