SESL Australia has evolved over 40 years and is now one of Australia’s leading soil, environmental, water and plant science laboratory and consultancy service.  Our Head office in Sydney is unique in that it includes a specialist laboratory.

We have a wide range of public and private sector clients including variously tiered construction companies, engineering and environmental firms, urban and landscape designers, recycling and resource recovery managers, composters, artificial soil producers, sports-field maintenance operators, agricultural producers.

We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our team of experienced and dedicated scientists.  The role will involve using your technical skills and knowledge on a wide variety of projects for both public and private sector clients including:

  • Executing on-ground field works at a range of sites involving the collection of soil, sediment, surface and groundwater samples and supervision of contractors

  • Project scoping, proposal writing and fieldwork preparation

  • Undertaking all works consistent with our safety values, systems and procedures

  • Evaluating and distilling field and analytical data

  • Preparing scientific and technical reports using fundamental environmental science principles to deliver innovative and practical advice

  • Working as part of a broad team to deliver environmental science expertise to SESL Australia’s valued clients

  • Introductory time in the laboratory to obtain experience and understanding of laboratory methods.

We are seeking talented and passionate environmental scientists who want to continue building their career with a well-established and trusted niche laboratory and environmental consultancy.  Ideally you will bring:

  • A degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, or relevant earth sciences

  • Minimum 4-5 years of related professional experience in contaminated land investigations and remediation

  • Knowledge of current environmental guidelines and legislation

  • A passion for field-based project work including soil and groundwater sampling, contractor supervision and safety management

  • Effective written and oral communication skills and the aptitude to confidently liaise with project teams, subcontractors and clients

  • Drive and commitment to succeed and to be a strong contributor to the growth and success of SESL Australia

  • A full driver’s license and white card

  • Ability and willingness to travel interstate

  • Safety leadership in the field and commitment to adopting behavioural based safety programs.
