Our team works on all things energy for various industries. We work with our clients in the private and public sectors to help accelerate their transition to sustainable energy use and achieve set decarbonisation targets. We do this by offering end-to-end expertise across the energy supply chain – renewables, hydrogen, hydrocarbons, power generation, transmission, and distribution. Our team of engineers, designers and managers provide high-level studies, detailed designs, construction and commissioning support and asset management services.

As a Senior Transmission Lines Engineer, you will lead and contribute to complex transmission line projects across Australia and internationally. You’ll collaborate with engineering peers, project managers and external stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and technically robust solutions for HV overhead line infrastructure supporting renewable energy integration and network expansion programs.

Benefits

Task & responsibilities

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and deliver HV overhead transmission line designs for voltages ranging from 11 kV to 500 kV, including new builds, line upgrades, relocations, and conditiondriven refurbishment projects.
  2. Oversee structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects of transmission line design, including route selection, load assessments, structure design, conductor and OPGW selection, and foundation design coordination.
  3. Apply and interpret relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS/NZS 1170.2, AS/NZS 7000, AS 4100), utility standards, and industry bestpractice guidelines.
  4. Use the PLS software suite—PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and PLSTOWER—for line modelling, analysis, optimisation, and detailed design development.
  5. Provide highquality technical input for feasibility, concept, and detailed design stages.
  6. Support bids, proposals, and tenders across varying contracting models—from utilityled frameworks to complex EPC/D&C project environments.
  7. Prepare clear, accurate, and technically sound documentation including design reports, calculations, scope definitions, schedules, and presentations.
  8. Work closely with teams across civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical, and environmental disciplines to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  9. Engage with clients, contractors, surveyors, and land access teams to resolve design issues, optimise routing, and support project execution.
  10. Ensure all deliverables meet safety, quality, legal, and contractual requirements.
  11. Follow engineering codes of practice and contribute to continuous improvement of design methodologies and internal processes.
  12. Plan, schedule, and prioritise your workload to meet project milestones and commercial targets.
  13. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates relevant to transmission line engineering.
  14. Provide guidance, coaching, and technical mentorship to junior engineers to support their development and ensure consistent quality across project deliverables.

Qualification & experience

About you

  1. Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. 10+ years of experience delivering HV transmission line designs, with strong handson experience using PLSCADD (PLSPOLE and PLSTOWER advantageous).
  3. Excellent understanding of overhead line structural mechanics, load cases, line routing principles, conductor behaviour, and foundation interactions.
  4. Familiarity with utility standards and approval processes across Australia (experience with international standards welcomed).
  5. Strong analytical, problemsolving, and technical writing skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  7. High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  8. Motivated to learn, adapt, and adopt new tools and technologies.
  9. Creative thinker with a passion for innovation in energy infrastructure.
  10. Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes in a fastpaced project environment.
  11. Driven, accountable, and outcomefocused.
