Civil Engineering Draftsperson

Formchoice is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Draftsperson to support the preparation of engineering drawings, technical documentation, and drafting solutions for temporary works and civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and project teams to develop detailed formwork, scaffolding, and structural drawings in accordance with Australian Standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, and project specifications.

The role requires strong technical drafting capabilities, attention to detail, and proficiency in CAD software to support engineering and construction operations.

Task & responsibilities

The Civil Engineering Draftsperson will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Preparing detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and plans for formwork, scaffolding, falsework, and temporary structure systems using CAD and Revit software. 
• Assisting engineers in the preparation and modification of technical drawings, designs, calculations, and specifications. 
• Producing accurate construction drawings, elevations, sections, and fabrication details in accordance with engineering standards and project requirements. 
• Interpreting engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations into technical drafting documentation. 
• Preparing and updating project documentation, drawing registers, and drafting records. 
• Coordinating drawings and technical information with engineers, site personnel, and clients. 
• Assisting with quantity take-offs, material estimations, and equipment scheduling for formwork and scaffold systems. 
• Reviewing and revising drawings based on project variations and engineering feedback. 
• Supporting compliance with Australian Standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, and legislative regulations. 
• Conducting site visits where required to verify measurements, gather technical information, and support drafting activities. 
• Assisting in the analysis and documentation of temporary works systems and construction methodologies. 
• Supporting project delivery through timely preparation of accurate engineering drafting documentation. 

Qualification & experience

Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Drafting, Engineering Design Drafting, Civil Engineering, or related qualification.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of engineering drafting principles, construction methodologies, and Australian Standards.

Work Experience Required

• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in civil engineering drafting or temporary works drafting. 
• Experience within the Australian construction, formwork, scaffolding, or engineering industry preferred. 
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within engineering and construction project teams.  
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
