This full-time role involves supporting landfill, waste management, and civil infrastructure projects across environmental compliance, design verification, construction quality assurance, geotechnical assessments, and project delivery activities. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, contractors, laboratories, and regulatory authorities to assist with engineering documentation, site inspections, monitoring programs, and construction compliance activities throughout various project stages.

Task & responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental and engineering compliance assessments for landfill and waste management infrastructure projects in accordance with EPA Victoria requirements and relevant engineering standards
  • Prepare and interpret technical reports, engineering specifications, drawings, plans, and construction documentation throughout concept, detailed design, construction, operational, and decommissioning phases
  • Assist in determining construction methodologies, quality standards, and engineering procedures for landfill and earthworks projects
  • Perform construction quality assurance and quality control activities relating to earthworks, soil testing, geosynthetics installation, and landfill infrastructure works
  • Undertake geotechnical and site assessment activities including analysis of soil conditions, construction materials, and engineering performance requirements
  • Analyse environmental monitoring data including groundwater, landfill gas, and leachate results to assess site compliance, engineering performance, and operational effectiveness
  • Assist with landfill design verification, construction verification audits, and engineering inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, laboratories, and regulatory authorities to support efficient project delivery and site activities
  • Support project management activities including scheduling, reporting, technical coordination, and monitoring project progress against engineering and safety requirements

Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure, landfill, environmental, or geotechnical engineering 
  • Knowledge of geotechnical testing, earthworks, construction quality assurance, and engineering compliance processes
  • Strong technical reporting, drafting, and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or related engineering software is desirable
