Mechanical Engineer

BUILDING AUTOMATION & ELECTRICAL SERVICES PTY. LTD. T/A B.A.E Services is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to plan, design, organise and oversee the development, installation and maintenance of mechanical and building systems, including HVAC, energy management and smart building automation solutions. The role involves determining system specifications, layouts, materials and capacities to ensure efficient and reliable operation of building services. The Mechanical Engineer will analyse system performance, identify opportunities to optimise energy usage and enhance operational efficiency, and ensure all engineering works comply with relevant standards and safety requirements. The position also includes coordinating project delivery, commissioning activities and ongoing maintenance to support high-performing, cost-effective and sustainable building operations in line with client and organisational objectives.

Task & responsibilities

• Designing and developing mechanical and building systems including HVAC, automation and energy management solutions to meet operational requirements. 
• Preparing technical specifications, layouts and system designs, including materials, equipment, piping and system capacities. 
• Overseeing installation, commissioning and integration of mechanical and smart building systems to ensure proper operation. 
• Establishing standards and procedures for installation, testing, quality control and maintenance in accordance with engineering principles and safety regulations. 
• Analysing system performance data to optimise energy usage, improve efficiency and enhance overall building performance. 
• Inspecting mechanical plant and building systems to ensure optimum performance and identify faults or areas for improvement. 
• Coordinating maintenance activities, upgrades and system modifications to ensure continuous and reliable operation. 
• Managing project resources, including labour, materials and equipment, to support timely delivery of engineering projects. 
• Providing technical advice and engineering support to clients and stakeholders to improve system performance, sustainability and cost efficiency.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. 
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in HVAC, building services or automation. 
• Demonstrated experience in designing, installing and maintaining mechanical systems and energy-efficient solutions. 
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, standards and Australian building codes. 
• Proven ability to analyse system performance, manage projects and provide technical solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
