Production Mechanical Technician

Production Mechanical Technician at Vida Labs supports the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of production machinery and mechanical systems used in the manufacturing process. The role focuses on ensuring machinery efficiency, minimising downtime, supporting production output, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

Working closely with production supervisors, mechanics, and management, the Mechanical Engineering Technician provides technical support for equipment maintenance, fault diagnosis, process improvement, and documentation of mechanical systems.

Task & responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of production machinery and mechanical equipment used in manufacturing processes.
• Inspect, monitor, and test mechanical systems, tools, and equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with operational standards.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, breakdowns, and performance issues, and assist in implementing corrective and preventative maintenance solutions.
• Support routine servicing, repairs, and calibration of mechanical components, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and automated machinery.
• Collect and analyse operational data related to machine performance, efficiency, and maintenance requirements.
• Assist engineers and senior technicians in developing maintenance schedules, equipment modifications, and process improvements.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including maintenance records, service reports, equipment manuals, and fault logs.

Qualification & experience

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, machinery operation, and maintenance practices.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.
• Practical skills in fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
• Engineering relevant qualification is preferrable.
