Teacher - Secondary English & Literature

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Secondary English teacher, with a preference for candidates experienced in teaching Senior English & Senior Literature.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs within the English faculty, working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team of educators. You will contribute to a contemporary and engaging curriculum, supporting students to develop strong literacy, analytical and critical thinking skills, while achieving high academic outcomes.

You will utilise evidence-based teaching strategies and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, reflection and professional growth.

This role includes a strong commitment to student safety and wellbeing, ensuring all practices align with the College’s Child Protection policies, duty of care obligations and relevant legislative requirements.

This role commences Term 3, 2026.

About you

• Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications in English
• Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration
• Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective teaching and learning programs in Secondary English
• Experience teaching or capacity to teach Senior English or Literature
• Strong understanding of ACARA and QCAA curriculum requirements
• Ability to differentiate learning to meet diverse student needs
• Experience using a range of assessment strategies to inform teaching and improve student outcomes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
• A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to a team environment
• A commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice
• A warm, professional and student-centred approach

Child Safety and Wellbeing

•  Demonstrated understanding of child safety, wellbeing and duty of care responsibilities
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all students
• Ability to uphold and implement the College’s Student Safety and Wellbeing policies
• Ability to apply a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach in all child wellbeing activities and child safety matters
• Completion of mandatory Child Protection training prior to undertaking duties
