About you:

You are passionate about driving student success through innovative and effective teaching practices, course administration and the end-to-end delivery of online higher education courses. You excel in a fast-paced environment, are known for being responsive and supportive of academics and students. You are a high-performing academic in Education with a strong background in the scholarship of learning and teaching (SoLT).

Purpose of the position

1. Lead and manage the high-quality, student-centred delivery of VU Online Education courses within the College of Arts, Business, Law, Education and IT (CoABLEIT), ensuring academic excellence, innovation, and strong student outcomes.

2. Ensure compliance and accreditation integrity by aligning all teaching, learning, assessment, and placement activities with Victoria University policies, TEQSA’s Higher Education Standards Framework (2021), and the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) accreditation requirements.

3.  Drive continuous improvement and collaboration across academic and professional teams to enhance curriculum design, student experience, and operational performance, strengthening VU Online’s position as a national leader in flexible, high-quality digital education.

Selection criteria

1. A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent) in Education and eligibility for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or equivalent professional body.

2. Proven record of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning within Teacher Education, with deep understanding of adult learning theories, and evidence-based online pedagogical practices.

3. Extensive experience in the administration and end-to-end delivery of online higher education programs, including curriculum design, assessment, moderation, and quality assurance processes.

4. Demonstrated academic leadership capability, with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate academic staff to deliver high-quality online learning experiences and achieve strong student outcomes.

5. Proven expertise in course quality assurance and improvement, including the ability to lead comprehensive course reviews, implement enhancement plans, and align with TEQSA and professional accreditation standards (e.g., VIT).

6. Strong understanding of higher education governance, accreditation, and compliance frameworks, including the TEQSA Higher Education Standards Framework (2021) and institutional policy requirements.

7. Exceptional written and verbal communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

8. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and continuous professional growth, with an enthusiasm for advancing innovative, student-centred approaches to online education.

Desired selection criteria

1. A Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (or equivalent).

2. Demonstrated scholarship profile as evidenced by high quality scholarly works.
