School Swimming Coach / Instructor

Court Grammar School is seeking a qualified and experienced Swim Instructor / Swimming Coach to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering safe, structured and engaging swimming lessons to students of varying ages and abilities. The role requires strong technical swimming knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a positive and safe learning environment.

Task & responsibilities

The successful applicant will be required to:

• Plan, organise and deliver swimming lessons and training sessions for individuals and groups; 
• Teach students correct swimming techniques, water safety skills and stroke development; 
• Assess students’ swimming abilities and monitor their progress; 
• Develop lesson plans and adapt programs to suit different ages, skill levels and learning needs; 
• Provide instruction in water safety, survival skills and safe pool behaviour; 
• Demonstrate swimming techniques and correct student technique where required; 
• Maintain a safe and controlled teaching environment at all times; 
• Supervise students in and around the pool area; 
• Communicate with students, parents and staff regarding progress and lesson outcomes; 
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and assessments; 
• Ensure all lessons comply with workplace health and safety requirements, child safety standards and relevant aquatic industry guidelines; 
• Assist with general pool supervision and other duties reasonably required by the employer. 

Qualification & experience

Applicants must have:

• Relevant qualifications, including a Certificate III or higher in swimming instruction, coaching or a related field;
• First Aid certificate;
• 3 years previous experience as a Swim Instructor, Swimming Coach; 
• Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, water safety and stroke correction; 
• Ability to work with children and/or adults of different skill levels; 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; 
• Strong commitment to safety and child protection standards.
