Perth Waldorf School Invites applications for
Education Assistant – Learning Support (2 Positions)
Part-time | Commencing Term 3 2026
Perth Waldorf School teaches students from Kindergarten to Class 12 in accordance with the educational indications of Rudolf Steiner. The Steiner curriculum is holistic, creative and developmentally informed, supporting young people through each stage of growth.
We invite applications for two part-time Education Assistant positions within the Learning Support team, supporting students in Classes 7–12 who require additional learning support.
Working under the direction of the Learning Support Coordinator, you will support students in the Learning Support space with organisation, engagement, and task completion. The role includes supporting students with disability and additional learning needs, in line with their Individual Education Plans and the school’s inclusive approach.
We are looking for people who enjoy working with teenagers and are passionate about supporting young people to grow, overcome challenges, and build confidence in their learning.
Key aspects of the role:
Support students to develop planning and organisational skills
Help students persist through learning challenges and develop strategies to support them
Help students complete classwork and assignments, and keep up to date with their work
Support students to plan their learning and manage their workload over time
Support literacy and numeracy tasks (writing, reading comprehension, basic maths)
Implement strategies from Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and classroom adjustments.
Work collaboratively with teachers and the Learning Support team
Contribute to an inclusive, responsive learning environment aligned with Steiner education principles
Hours and allocation:
27 hours per week total, shared between two assistants. The Annual salary listed will be pro-rata depending on hours.
Some days require both assistants to work concurrently; the full 27 hours is not available to one person
Flexibility in how the hours are shared between the two assistants
Additional assistant hours may be available
We seek applicants who:
Have experience in Learning Support or a similar educational setting
Hold, or are working towards, Certificate III or IV in Education Support (or similar)
Are passionate about working with teenagers and supporting their growth and learning
Are willing to engage constructively with anthroposophy, Steiner education and the school’s ethos
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and can build respectful, supportive relationships with students
Can work independently and collaboratively, and are flexible and proactive
Have sound literacy and numeracy skills
Are familiar with IEPs and implementing strategies for students with additional needs
Essential requirements:
Valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one)
Australian residency or valid visa with work rights. There is no opportunity for sponsorship or relocation allowance.
