The Early Childhood Teacher will plan, deliver, and assess educational programs for children aged 0–6 years, in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Standard (NQS), and Arkie’s play-based philosophy. This is a hands-on teaching role requiring collaboration with educators, support staff, and families to foster children’s learning, wellbeing, and safe, inclusive environments.

Task & responsibilities

KEY DUTIES

  • Plan, design, and implement developmentally appropriate programs using EYLF and Arkie’s curriculum to support children’s holistic development.
  • Organise learning experiences in indoor and outdoor environments using sensory, art, construction, literacy, musical, and outdoor play resources.
  • Promote physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills through play-based learning and intentional teaching.
  • Support language and literacy development via storytelling, songs, role play, phonics, and digital literacy programs (e.g., Reading Eggs).
  • Observe, assess, and document children’s progress and wellbeing using learning portfolios and digital platforms.
  • Identify and respond to additional needs, developmental delays, or health concerns, liaising with families and relevant professionals.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with families, providing regular updates and involving them in their child’s learning journey.
  • Mentor and guide educators, assistants, and trainees in program implementation, child supervision, and behaviour guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with Education and Care Services National Law, NQS, NSW regulations, child protection, and WHS requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver high-quality, play-based educational programs that meet EYLF learning outcomes.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Monitor and assess children’s progress to guide curriculum planning.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding children’s learning and wellbeing.
  • Uphold Arkie Education’s standards of professionalism, reflective practice, and child-centered pedagogy.
  • Contribute to team collaboration, planning, and professional development activities.


Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and Anaphylaxis certification (mandatory).
  • Minimum of 1 year full-time experience as an Early Childhood Teacher in a regulated early childhood setting.
  • Strong knowledge of EYLF, NQS, and play-based teaching strategies.
  • Excellent observation, documentation, and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication, relationship-building, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work on the floor at children’s level and engage in physical play activities.
