UTS is seeking an inspiring and industry?engaged Senior Lecturer in Interior Architecture to join our dynamic School of Architecture. In this full-time continuing academic position, you'll contribute to a future?focused Interior Architecture program known for design innovation, critical thinking, and strong professional relevance.
About the role
You will lead and teach studio?based subjects, develop curriculum, supervise student projects, and contribute to a collaborative academic culture. This role is ideal for a designer?educator who thrives in a creative environment and is passionate about shaping the next generation of interior architects. The role is based on 40% teaching, 40% research and 20% service.
Key responsibilities
• Teaching leadership. Ability to deliver high-quality studio and theory / practice-based teaching in undergraduate Interior Architecture subjects
• Curriculum development. Ability to design and refine learning experiences that integrate contemporary design practice, emerging technologies, and critical spatial thinking
• Research and creative practice. Ability to build a strong research or practice-based profile aligned with UTS's design and innovation priorities
• Student supervision. Ability to guide students through major projects, assessment tasks, and industry engaged learning.
• Industry engagement. Ability to engage with practitioners, studios, and organisations to enrich the program and expand opportunities for students.
• Service and leadership. Willingness to contribute to school committees, events, outreach, and the ongoing development of the Interior Architecture discipline.
About You
You are a creative, reflective, and collaborative educator with a strong commitment to design excellence. You bring:
• A strong portfolio demonstrating design expertise, conceptual thinking, and spatial innovation.
• Proven experience in studio teaching or design education.
• Evidence of research output, creative practice, or industry leadership.
• A PhD or equivalent professional standing in Interior Architecture or a closely related field.
• The ability to work effectively within a diverse, interdisciplinary academic community.

Selection Criteria
1. Specialist knowledge in interior architecture along with a focus on the following: critical spatial design thinking; expanded practices of contemporary interior architecture (e.g. lighting design, adaptive reuse and sustainable material research, biophilic design, design for wellbeing, modular systems, social impact design, and crisis-responsive design).
2. Ability to develop and teach high quality curricula at under-graduate that promotes an expertise in innovative and expanded interior spatial practice.
3. Developed research in contemporary interior architectural theory and critique or contemporary professional practices.
4. Attention to emergent and relevant concerns in the profession that align with the School's emphasis on decolonisation, decarbonisation and urban equity
