The Shire of Carnarvon is seeking an experienced and passionate Manager Environment & Sustainability to lead environmental health, waste management and sustainability services across our unique and diverse region.


Reporting to the Executive Manager Community Planning & Sustainability, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across environmental health, public health, waste management and sustainability programs while driving projects that support the long-term environmental resilience of the Carnarvon community.


About the Role

This leadership position is responsible for:

  • Environmental health and public health services
  • Waste management and resource recovery initiatives
  • Sustainability and climate resilience programs
  • Environmental compliance and regulatory obligations
  • Strategic project delivery and stakeholder engagement
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team

Key projects include the Coral Bay Waste Project, Pelican Point Vegetation Planning and expansion of environmental health services across the region.


About You

You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental management, public health, sustainability, engineering or a related field
  • Formal project management qualifications and experience delivering complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of environmental, public health and waste management legislation
  • Proven leadership experience and excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, customer service and community outcomes
