The Shire of Carnarvon is seeking an experienced and passionate Manager Environment & Sustainability to lead environmental health, waste management and sustainability services across our unique and diverse region.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Community Planning & Sustainability, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across environmental health, public health, waste management and sustainability programs while driving projects that support the long-term environmental resilience of the Carnarvon community.

About the Role

This leadership position is responsible for:

Environmental health and public health services
Waste management and resource recovery initiatives
Sustainability and climate resilience programs
Environmental compliance and regulatory obligations
Strategic project delivery and stakeholder engagement
Leading and developing a high-performing team

Key projects include the Coral Bay Waste Project, Pelican Point Vegetation Planning and expansion of environmental health services across the region.

About You

You will bring:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental management, public health, sustainability, engineering or a related field
Formal project management qualifications and experience delivering complex projects
Strong knowledge of environmental, public health and waste management legislation
Proven leadership experience and excellent communication skills
A commitment to continuous improvement, customer service and community outcomes
