Fitter

The Fitter (General) is responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing lift cages, lift shaft systems, working platforms, and related mechanical structures. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, fitting and aligning components, conducting inspections and testing, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with WHS requirements and project specifications.

Task & responsibilities

• Install, assemble and fit lift cages, lift shaft systems, working platforms and associated mechanical structures
• Carry out works in accordance with engineering drawings and site specifications
• Align, level and secure lift cage components and mechanical assemblies
• Perform maintenance, repairs and replacement of mechanical parts and lift-related equipment
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints and engineering specifications
• Operate hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment safely and effectively
• Conduct testing and complete checklists to ensure safe and accurate installation of the equipment  
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, riggers, electricians and other trades onsite
• Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety regulations and site procedures

Qualification & experience

• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent industry experience
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Mechanical Fitter / Fitter (General)
• Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• White Card and current driver licence preferred
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
