This is a great opportunity to join a well-established national business supplying specialised industrial products and technical solutions across the mining, oil and gas, marine and construction sectors.

With operations across Australia, the business supports major projects and maintenance works through product supply, fabrication, technical support and project delivery. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced and commercially minded Estimator / Scheduler to join their Perth-based team.

The Appointment
Reporting to the Executive Manager – West, this role will see you manage the estimating and tendering process from initial enquiry through to project handover.

You will work closely with sales, warehouse, operations, fabrication and project teams to ensure estimates are accurate, tenders are submitted on time, and awarded projects are handed over smoothly for delivery.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys the detail of estimating, the pace of tender deadlines, and the commercial focus required to support successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing construction tender drawings, specifications and isometric drawings to identify relevant project opportunities
  • Preparing accurate estimates, quantity take-offs, tender submissions and supporting documentation
  • Interpreting measurements including mass, square metre areas, temperatures and material calculations
  • Requesting supplier pricing, analysing costings and preparing tender letters
  • Updating tender portals, monitoring addendums and reviewing upcoming project opportunities
  • Following up submitted quotations and supporting pre-contract negotiations
  • Coordinating workshop fabrication scheduling and supporting operational planning
  • Preparing project handovers for delivery teams following award
  • Providing regular reporting and updates during planning meetings
  • Supporting major projects alongside business development and leadership teams
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records, opportunity updates, forecasting and client activity notes
The Appointee
You will bring previous experience in estimating, scheduling, technical sales or project coordination within an industrial, construction, mechanical services, insulation, piping, sheet metal or related environment.

You will be comfortable reading technical drawings and specifications, preparing tenders, coordinating multiple priorities and working to deadlines.

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

  • Experience preparing estimates, tenders, quantity take-offs or technical quotations
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, construction or technical plans and specifications
  • Strong commercial awareness, with an understanding of margins, productivity and job profitability
  • Experience working with supplier pricing, project documentation and tender portals
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal teams, clients and suppliers
  • Good systems capability across CRM, ERP and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with fabrication or drafting systems such as Wintech, CMS Intelliclad, Plate ‘n’ Sheet or Tool Shop would be advantageous
  • A trade, mechanical, engineering, construction management, project management or estimating qualification would be highly regarded
  • Current Australian driver’s licence
