Construction Accountant

GEBIE Civil and Construction (GCC) Pty Ltd is seeking an energetic and experienced Construction Accountant to take ownership of aspects of its accounting function.

This is a Part-Time or Full-Time Position based in our Cairns office. There will be a requirement to fly to Groote Eylandt in the NT on a regular  basis (a few days per month).

The Position is responsible for:

·         Development, maintenance and accuracy of the job costing system,

·         Setting up of projects, contracts and variation orders,

·         Ensuring progress claims are timely,

·         Producing accurate Work in Progress (WIP) and Stock reports,

·         Working with the Finance Team on Month end internal reporting,

Reporting to the GCC General Manager and working closely with the Group CFO and Financial Controller, the successful applicant will be highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines.

Experience in a multi-faceted and dynamic construction environment is essential, as is experience in using a Job Costing / Project Management system.

The successful applicant will possess a strong and demonstrable knowledge of job costing, projects accounting and WIP. In particular, the Construction Accountant will focus on the ongoing development of systems to ensure timely progress billing and ensuring the strategic management of work in progress levels.

Applicants must be willing to undergo a Police Clearance Check with a commitment to working in a cross cultural workplace.
