Palrav Pty Ltd is now seeking skilled Carpenter to join our construction team, responsible for the construction, installation, and maintenance of structural and finishing components on low‑rise projects. The role includes interpreting plans, assembling and installing timber structures, fitting doors and windows, building frameworks, and ensuring all work meets building codes, safety requirements, and quality standards while working closely with supervisors and trades to support efficient project delivery.

Task & responsibilities

  • Interpret construction drawings to determine materials, measurements, and installation requirements
  • Select and order construction materials, prepare accurate layouts, and organise physical resource needs
  • Cut, shape, and assemble materials, including nailing and fixing prepared components
  • Construct and install structural frameworks such as wall frames, panelised systems, roof framing, sub‑flooring, and floorboards with precision
  • Install interior and exterior fixtures including fascia panels, roof sheathing, cladding, doors, and window frames
  • Assemble wooden structures and fittings ready for installation
  • Create accurate wood joints for structural and finishing applications
  • Construct concrete formwork when required
  • Repair and maintain existing structures and fittings
  • Work with a variety of materials including timber, plywood, lightweight steel, wallboard, laminates, Perspex, and metals
  • Apply carpentry and building codes and follow organisational quality procedures for low‑rise building projects
  • Manage workplace health and safety and ensure compliance with construction safety standards
  • Interpret and analyse contract requirements including key elements, clauses, and obligations
  • Calculate labour and material costs and prepare labour schedules, material schedules, overlays, and orders
  • Assess material properties and compatibility to ensure correct and safe usage
  • Implement construction strategies and assist in preparing project schedules
  • Maintain quality control compliance throughout all construction phases
  • Apply industrial relations obligations relevant to housing and construction projects
  • Apply structural principles to commercial and residential low‑rise buildings
  • Read and interpret workplace specifications using standard symbols and abbreviations
  • Identify construction hazards and implement appropriate control measures
  • Participate in business and financial planning and support implementation across the team


Qualification & experience

  • AQF Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 years’ full‑time carpentry experience in construction
  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Skilled in fixing, framing, installation, and finishing carpentry
  • Good understanding of Australian WHS requirements and safe work practices
  • Knowledge of building codes and construction standards for low‑rise projects
  • Competent in using carpentry tools and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
