Task & responsibilities

• Assist civil engineers in the supervision of construction projects including roads, drainage, earthworks and structural elements.
• Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt in accordance with Australian Standards.
• Prepare and interpret technical drawings, specifications, sketches and project documentation.
• Collect, analyse and record technical data from site inspections, surveys and material tests.
• Monitor construction activities on site to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, design drawings and quality requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, test certificates and project documentation for internal and client use.
• Liaise with site supervisors, contractors, suppliers and project managers regarding technical matters.
• Assist with quantity estimation, scheduling and procurement of construction materials.
• Support the implementation of workplace health and safety procedures on site and in the laboratory.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methods, project workflows and technical documentation.

Qualification & experience

• A qualification at AQF Diploma level (or higher). Equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered.
• At least 12 months of relevant experience, ideally engineering, construction materials testing, infrastructure or building products sector.
• Working knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to civil construction and materials testing.
• Ability to read, interpret and prepare technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with relevant software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar technical drafting tools is highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate record keeping and the ability to interpret technical data.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety on construction sites and in laboratory environments.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary technical team.
• Valid Australian driver licence and willingness to attend project sites as required.
