Development Engineer | Local Government Contract | Immediate Start

We are currently seeking an experienced Development Engineer to join a local government organisation within Tasmania. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful infrastructure and development outcomes within a collaborative and community-focused environment.
 
Position Overview

  • Location: Southern Tasmania (Local Government Authority)
  • Duration: 4–5 months
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Start: Immediate / as soon as available
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess development applications, engineering plans, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation
  • Provide engineering advice across roads, stormwater, traffic, earthworks, servicing, and infrastructure integration
  • Liaise with developers, consultants, government authorities, and internal stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
  • Prepare and review engineering-related permit conditions, technical reports, and professional recommendations
  • Support development assessment processes, compliance activities, and infrastructure handover within statutory timeframes
Ideal Candidate Requirements
  • Degree-qualified Civil Engineer or related discipline
  • Proven experience in development engineering, ideally within a local government environment
  • Strong understanding of development assessment processes, civil infrastructure, and relevant legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities independently
