Position Duties

  • Provide direct, person-centred community support to NDIS participants in accordance with their individualised NDIS plans, goals and preferences, delivered both in-home and across community settings.
  • Act as a bilingual (English/Spanish) liaison between participants, their families, Amigo’s Support Coordinators, Care Team Manager, COO and external stakeholders (allied health, GPs, government agencies).
  • Conduct community linkage activities — connecting participants with local community groups, recreation services, cultural organisations, religious communities and informal supports relevant to their goals.
  • Support participants to develop and exercise capacity for independent living, including skill-building in daily routines, money management, transport navigation, cooking, shopping and community participation.
  • Advocate on behalf of participants in their interactions with health services, government agencies, education providers and community organisations, ensuring their rights and choices are upheld.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns, abuse, neglect or exploitation in accordance with the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards and Amigo’s incident reporting policies.
  • Maintain accurate, timely participant records, shift notes and progress reports in Amigo’s ShiftCare client management system within 24 hours of each shift.
  • Provide cultural and linguistic translation support for Spanish-speaking participants during clinical appointments, plan reviews and government interactions where required.
  • Liaise with the Support Coordination Manager and the Care Team Manager regarding service-coordination and rostering matters.
  • Comply with all Work Health & Safety obligations, infection control protocols, manual handling procedures and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission standards at all times.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Disability Support, Mental Health, or a closely related discipline (AQF Level 4 minimum). Equivalent overseas qualifications subject to assessment by the relevant Australian assessing authority.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance.
  • Current Working with Children Check clearance (NSW).
  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) and CPR Certificate (HLTAID009).
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (“Quality, Safety and You”).
  • Current Australian Driver Licence (Class C) and reliable, registered, comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Bilingual proficiency — fluent verbal and written English and Spanish (mandatory for this role).

Work experience 

  • Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in community support, disability support, aged care, social work, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, particularly Spanish-speaking communities.
  • Experience documenting participant progress in electronic client management systems (ShiftCare or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS framework, Quality and Safeguards Commission, NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
