As an Accountant at Gorrinn Village, you will oversee and manage the organisation’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective financial planning. This role involves analysing financial data, preparing statutory and management reports, and supporting leadership with financial insights that strengthen operational sustainability. You will contribute to sound financial governance while supporting the delivery of high-quality residential aged care, respite care, and independent living services for older adults in the Ararat community.

Task & responsibilities

Your Tasks & Responsibilities will Include:

  • Preparing statutory and management financial statements in accordance with Australian accounting standards
  • Managing general ledger functions and maintaining accurate and compliant financial records
  • Monitoring budgets and conducting variance analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Preparing and lodging BAS, tax returns, and other required regulatory financial reports
  • Reconciling bank accounts, receivables, payables, and balance sheet accounts
  • Analysing financial performance and providing financial insights to management and the board
  • Maintaining and strengthening internal financial controls and accounting procedures
  • Supporting external audits and ensuring compliance with financial governance and reporting obligations
  • Managing cash flow forecasting and financial planning to support organisational sustainability
  • Liaising with auditors, banks, and external advisors on financial and compliance matters
  • Assisting with financial planning and reporting related to aged care funding and operational programs
  • Producing financial reports and dashboards to support management oversight and organisational transparency

Qualification & experience

Applicants will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional qualification)
  • 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting roles involving financial reporting, tax lodgements, budgeting, and internal control systems
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or equivalent ERP systems) and financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation requirements, and financial compliance obligations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and forecasts
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and professional integrity
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a community-focused organisation
