The AMA is the professional body for all doctors in Australia, promoting and protecting the professional interests of doctors and the healthcare needs of their patients. AMA SA is seeking a forward-thinking Independent Director who will contribute to the overall governance, strategic direction and management of the association. This non-remunerated Non-Executive Director of AMA SA provides an opportunity for the successful applicant to utilise their skills and experience to make a tangible impact by helping to shape AMA SA’s direction and effectiveness. Working collaboratively with the Chair, Board and CEO, this role ensures the delivery of accountable corporate performance in accordance with the organisation’s goals and objectives.

Applications are sought from appropriately qualified legal professionals with demonstrated experience in legal or governance roles preferably with an understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to the AMA SA. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with an understanding of current issues and opportunities within the medical field, will be critical for success in this role.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, analytical, embrace innovative thinking and possess the ability to think independently and offer constructive feedback, all while maintaining high levels of integrity and ethical standards.
