General Manager

Hawkesbury City Council is currently seeking a dedicated and forward-looking General Manager to lead their administrative operations and serve as the primary link between the elected body and the organisation. This vital vacancy offers a unique opportunity to support the Council in developing a strong vision, values, and strategic direction for the community. You will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of their day-to-day operations, ensuring they continue to deliver a high level of services to all residents while building a culture of active staff commitment.

In this pivotal position, your duties will centre on the execution of the council's strategic and operational goals with a steadfast focus on service and performance outcomes. You will be directly tasked with delivering key planned projects efficiently, leading staff in accordance with the Council's Project Management Framework. Strong financial stewardship is paramount, requiring you to oversee the financial management and sustainability of the Council, while strictly adhering to the established 10-year long term financial plan. Additionally, you will be required to expertly manage the implementation of the current rate increase, should the council vote it through, ensuring that all resulting operations strictly comply with statutory and proclamation requirements.

The ideal candidate will be a highly resilient leader with ideally General Management experience, or at the very least senior executive expertise, in the local government sector. You must be able to effectively liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders, including government departments, local businesses, and community groups. As the public face of the organisation, you will be expected to confidently project a positive image of the Council in the media and promote their position as a Civic Leader across the region. Ultimately, they are seeking a professional with highly developed political acumen who can successfully navigate complex environments while championing the diverse interests of their diverse community.
