We have 6 community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service.

We offer a wide range of services to our community including but not limited to, borrowing services, a digital library, study support services, technology workshops, and multicultural, children and youth services. This is an exciting permanent, part-time opportunity for a Library Technician, which includes a weekend shift. 

You will be part of a friendly, customer-focused team dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all visitors feel comfortable and supported.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

• Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
• Previous library experience
• Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
• Well-developed problem-solving skills
• Relevant computer skills
• Current class C driver’s licence
• Working with Children Check number. 

Desirable: 

• First aid certification
• Ability to speak a community language. 

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

• Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week, pro rata
• Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
• 17.5-hour working week 
• Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
