Retail Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Retail Assistant to join The Index team in Windsor, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail environment. As a Retail Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting the day-to-day operations of our store. Your enthusiasm, reliability and customer-focused approach will directly contribute to the success of our retail operations and the satisfaction of our customers.

Key responsibilities

1. Providing friendly and efficient customer service to all shoppers, assisting with product inquiries and purchase decisions

2. Processing sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash and card payments

3. Maintaining a clean, organised and well-stocked retail environment, including shelving products and rotating stock

4. Receiving and unpacking deliveries, checking inventory accuracy and updating stock records

5. Creating attractive product displays to promote sales and enhance the shopping experience

6. Supporting promotional activities and communicating offers and special events to customers

7. Operating within health and safety guidelines and adhering to company policies and procedures

8. Assisting with customer complaints and queries in a professional and courteous manner

9. Supporting the retail team during peak trading periods and undertaking additional duties as required

What we're looking for

1. Previous retail or customer service experience is desirable, though training will be provided for the right candidate

2. Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service

3. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment and manage multiple tasks

4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing transactions and managing inventory

5. Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team

6. Physical capability to lift and move stock, stand for extended periods and maintain an active presence on the shop floor

7. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer skills

8. Flexibility to work retail hours, which may include weekends and public holidays as required

9. A positive attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop within a retail setting
