General Clerk

About the Role

Northern Accountants is seeking a motivated and organised General Clerk to join our growing team in Darwin.

This position provides administrative and clerical support across the business and plays an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice. The successful applicant will assist with client enquiries, records management, document preparation, data entry and general office administration duties.

This is a full-time office-based position.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to management and staff.
  • Receive, record and distribute incoming correspondence, emails and documentation.
  • Maintain and update client records, databases and filing systems.
  • Perform accurate data entry and document management tasks.
  • Prepare routine correspondence, reports and administrative documents.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain staff and meeting calendars.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to client enquiries in a professional manner.
  • Assist with reception duties, including greeting clients and visitors.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and courier deliveries.
  • Monitor and order office supplies as required.
  • Maintain electronic and hard-copy records in accordance with company procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding documentation and other administrative processes.
  • Support office operations through general clerical and administrative duties.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma qualification in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an administrative, clerical or office support role.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Professional presentation and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must work from the office location (remote work is not available).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in a professional services or accounting office environment.
  • Experience using practice management or document management systems.
  • Experience in records management and data entry.
