Aboriginal Family Legal Services (ICN 7333) aims to provide free, culturally secure, legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault. 

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is identified under Section 50(D) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. AFLS seeks to recruit an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander into this position. 

We are seeking a full-time Administration Support Officer (50D Position) to work at our office in Rivervale.

Who are Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS):

AFLS is an Aboriginal controlled not-for-profit organisation that provides both legal and non-legal support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence. Our services are delivered in the Kimberly, Pilbara, Mid-west, Goldfields, and Perth Metropolitan areas. 

About the role:

The Administration Support Officer will be the first point of contact in the office, they will greet visitors, answer phones and emails and also maintain the overall look and cleanliness of the front office space. The Administration Support Officer will be a part of a team that provides support to members of the community, and they will do tasks which helps keep the office running smoothly. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Balancing incoming phone calls, emails, letters and general enquiries in a professional and friendly manner

  • Providing excellence in customer service

  • Proactively providing clerical assistance to AFLS lawyers

  • Referring clients to the appropriate resources and agencies

  • Assisting in day-to-day filing of documentation

Skill areas:

  • Administration/front desk experience 

  • Computer skills with Microsoft office 

  • Answering phones

  • File and Data management (we can provide training)

  • General admin tasks

What you need:

  • Current WA Driver’s License.

  • Current Federal Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).

  • Working with Children’s Check.

Employment Information:

  • Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

  • 5 weeks annual leave.

  • Salary packaging of up to $15,899.00 per annum. 

  • Employee support services including EAP and an internal AFLS counsellor.
