Taxation Accountant

Complete Business and Taxation Solutions Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated and experienced full-time Taxation Accountant to join its growing practice in Baulkham Hills, NSW. The role involves preparing financial statements and tax returns, reviewing BAS/GST compliance obligations, providing taxation and business advisory services, assisting with budgeting and cash flow forecasting, and liaising with the ATO and other regulatory authorities. The successful candidate will work with a diverse client portfolio including individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and self-managed superannuation funds while ensuring compliance with Australian taxation and financial reporting requirements.

Task & responsibilities

• Preparing financial statements and tax returns for a diverse client portfolio, individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and self-managed superannuation funds.
• Reviewing and lodging BAS, IAS, GST returns and other statutory documents, ensuring timely compliance.
• Deliver advisory services relating to income tax, international tax, payroll tax, GST, superannuation and accounting matters. 
• Provide tax and business advisory support relating to complex compliance obligations and financial performance.
• Reviewing client financial records and maintaining accurate accounting documentation.
• Assisting clients with structuring, tax planning and business growth strategies.
• Mentoring and developing junior team members 
• Assisting with budgeting, cash flow forecasting and business reporting requirements
• Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office, ASIC and other regulatory bodies regarding client matters
• Monitoring changes in taxation legislation and ensuring client compliance with current laws and regulations
• Maintaining strong long-term professional relationships with clients.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting or Commerce.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting and taxation experience.
• Big4 consulting experience is preferred (for offshore, minimum 5-years in commonwealth countries)
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles and Australian income tax, GST and international tax treaties.
• Experience using Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and MS Office applications.
• Experience of Access HandiSoft software will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client files and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience managing client relationships and reviewing work.
• CTA or CA qualification (or working towards) will be highly regarded.
