H&R Block’s SMSF Administration Division is seeking a Intermediate SMSF Accountant with 1–3 years’ experience to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your technical accounting and compliance skills while working closely with experienced SMSF professionals.

We are looking for someone who is organised, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and willing to assist with both accounting and administrative responsibilities as part of a collaborative team environment.

About The Role

As a Intermediate SMSF Accountant, you will assist with the preparation of SMSF financial statements, annual returns, and compliance work for a portfolio of SMSF clients.

You will work alongside senior team members to develop your technical knowledge and gain exposure to a broad range of SMSF matters while also supporting the day-to-day administration functions of the division.

This role is ideal for someone looking to continue building a long-term career within the SMSF and accounting industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of SMSF financial statements and annual returns
  • Processing and reconciliation of bank and investment transactions
  • Assist with pensions, contributions, rollovers, and benefit payments
  • Preparation of workpapers and compliance documentation
  • Liaising with clients, advisers, and auditors regarding outstanding information
  • Assisting with audit preparation and follow-up queries
  • Maintaining accurate electronic client records and documentation
  • Scanning, filing, and document management
  • Processing incoming and outgoing mail and postage
  • Assisting with client correspondence and document collation
  • Supporting workflow management and general team administration duties
About You
Essential
  • 1–3 years’ experience in accounting, SMSF administration, or public practice
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Competent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook
Desirable
  • Exposure to SMSFs and superannuation compliance
  • Experience using Class Super, BGL, or similar accounting software
  • Currently studying or intending to commence CA or CPA
  • Experience working in a professional services environment
