Skytrans Australia is an Australian airline providing regional Regular Public Transport (RPT), ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance), and Charter services, connecting communities across the country. The airline operates a fleet of 11 aircraft, including Dash 8 turboprops and Airbus A319 jets. About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Accountant supports the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient management of accounting processes. Working closely with the CFO and wider finance team, you will assist in delivering timely financial information and maintaining strong governance and controls.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Cairns (Cairns Airport), working standard business hours.

  Key Responsibilities

• Maintain financial ledgers and accounting processes
• Assist in preparing monthly and annual P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports in line with IFRSs.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure data accuracy
• Support statutory compliance, including tax and audit requirements
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes
• Assist in handling external and internal audit processes
• Provide financial information to support budgeting and forecasting
• Maintain financial systems, controls, and procedures
• Support continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting

 About You

• Qualifications in Accounting, Business, or Finance (CA or CPA desirable)
• Experience in accounting, finance, or a related role
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and general ledger processes
• Experience with reconciliations and financial controls
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems
• Knowledge of tax requirements (GST, PAYG) is advantageous
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capability
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively while maintaining integrity and confidentiality
