About the Branch

The Compliance Branch provides specialist services to support efficient and effective compliance actions across all CER schemes. These services can include actions and activities that will help the CER to better understand who the participants are and to explain their behaviours so that we can provide targeted and timely guidance and outreach activities to enable them to meet their obligations. The branch also helps to detect non-compliance and to facilitate and enforce compliance within each scheme.

About the Section

The Compliance Branch has four sections:

  • The Compliance and Enforcement Section undertakes proactive and reactive compliance activities including investigations and developing and delivering compliance and engagement programs to prevent, detect and address serious non-compliance across schemes administered by the CER.
  • The Intelligence and Assessment Section provides a centralised intelligence function. The section produces intelligence reports to support scheme areas. It provides a preliminary assessment triage function for referrals of non-compliance. The section also maintains an ongoing participant monitoring function and coordination of engagement and collaboration with other regulatory agencies.
  • The Participant Assessment Section ensures that those who are applying to participate in the schemes administered by the CER meet fit and proper person checks which establish competency and capability benchmarks.
  • The Compliance Strategy and Assurance Section drives engagement on strategic compliance policy initiatives, reporting on compliance effectiveness and providing a centralised scheme audit and assurance function.
The key duties of the position include:
